Hello Reader, It means so much to me that you’re here. Thank you! Today, I want to share something personal with you. It started in my flower pots but ended in my spirit. This spring, I battled spider mites on my impatiens. I tried everything that I read on the internet. But those tiny pests just kept returning to weave their little webs on my plants and suck the life out of them. My once-lovely flowers withered, yellowed, and dropped their leaves until only bare stems remained. It was discouraging. I almost gave up. Then I remembered a systemic rose fertilizer that works from the inside out. It’s a granular blend that nourishes the roots while fighting pests through the plant’s internal system. I gave it a try, and guess what? The impatiens began to thrive again. No more spider mites. No more yellow leaves. Just healing from the ground up. It reminded me of how we deal with our own struggles. Sometimes we work so hard to deal with things like disappointment, discouragement, or negativity, without realizing the deeper need for transformation at the root level. A surface fix may help for a while. But, we ultimately need something that feeds our spirit and fortifies us from within. We need the Word of God. We need the Holy Spirit. We need soul-deep nourishment. Romans 12:2 tells us we are transformed by the renewing of our mind! Think about that for a while! I love how Joyce Meyer once asked, “Have you thought about what you’re thinking about?” That hits home, doesn’t it? Especially in this summer season, when social media is filled with vacation pictures and highlight reels. It’s easy to start feeling like we’re missing out. We see smiling families on the beach, road trips, and mountain getaways. We can start to feel like maybe our life isn’t enough. Everyone else is doing something wonderful while we’re stuck in the same place. 🗝️Comparison is subtly weaving little webs of lies around our heart and sucking the joy out of us! It blinds us to the beauty already blooming in our lives. It numbs our thankfulness and replaces it with a quiet ache. But we don’t have to stay there. There are lots of miracles all around us if we have eyes to see them! We can arrest those thoughts and feed our mind on the goodness of God. His faithfulness, His presence, His personal care for us right where we are. And here's the truth: 🗝️You have the authority to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. Second Corinthians 10:5 tells us that “we demolish arguments and . . .take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” You are not powerless. You can destroy every lie that stands in opposition to God's promises for you. I experienced a battle like this recently. I woke up under a cloud of condemning thoughts: You’re too old. Your dreams are slipping away. You’ve missed your moment. I’m turning 60 soon. I care for my elderly parents. And for a moment, the weight of it all felt like too much. But then I caught myself. I got up, opened my Bible, and even read a section from my own book. I let the Word wash over me. As I soaked in truth, I felt the heaviness lift. It washed all the icky off me and transformed my thinking! His Spirit did a deeper work, reaching into the roots of my thinking, filling the broken places, and making me strong again. 🗝️Sometimes we forget the Bible is more than intellectual. It is living and powerful! It renews, restores, and heals us in deep ways. It realigns us with heaven’s perspective. You may not face the same battles I do, but I know this: The enemy targets our weak spots. That’s why we must be vigilant. Years ago, I was mowing the lawn when a flood of foul thoughts entered my mind. It was totally out of character for me. That moment was so clearly an enemy attack that I rebuked it out loud. Just like Jesus did in Matthew 4:10, “Go away, Satan!” 🗝️We can speak with the same authority when our minds are under attack. But not all battles are that obvious. Sometimes, negative thoughts feel normal because we’ve lived with them too long. That’s why spiritual maturity means learning to discern our thoughts, God’s thoughts, and the enemy’s thoughts. Then we must intentionally choose to renew our minds with truth. We are temples of the living God, as Romans 12:1 reminds us. The Spirit of Jesus lives inside us. He’s not just with you. He’s in you. What an astonishing truth. Philippians 4:8 urges us to fix our thoughts on what is pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. 🗝️Because what we think about shapes who we become.
So today, if your thoughts feel heavy or your dreams feel delayed, let His Word be the water and nourishment your soul needs. He’s not finished with you. Your best fruitful, beautiful life is still ahead! I'm with you on this Christian journey, P.S. You are not alone. I’m praying for your inner strength, your mind to be renewed, and your dreams to come alive again! |

Dear Reader, When I was in my early twenties, I found myself on the front porch of my parents' house, tears streaming down my face. My husband had left. I had a baby and no money. I was devastated. My mom sat down beside me and said something that stuck in my heart: "God is love. Your husband loved you as much as he could, but he didn't have much to give because he didn’t have much of God.” Then she said, “But God is love itself. And He has everything to give you." In that moment, God held...
Hello Reader, Time to Check Your Roots A hurricane stripped limbs and leaves from trees in my neighborhood a couple years ago. Pines toppled, and my neighbor’s maple trunk snapped in two. Yet the sabal palm remained unfazed, unbroken, and swaying in winds that shattered everything around it. Its secret lay beneath the surface, where its roots had spent years growing deep into the soil. A New Year Invitation A new year offers us a chance to pause and assess our lives. We set goals, make...
Happy December Reader, Earlier this week, I posted a simple challenge on social media: Read one chapter of Luke each day starting December 1st, and by Christmas, you'll have read the entire book. I'm doing it too. As I began reading, my heart began to stir with hope. Chapter after chapter, miracle after miracle unfolded before me: Elizabeth and Zacharias, barren for decades, held their promised son. A virgin conceived the Savior of the world. Angels appeared Mary, Joseph, and to shepherds in...
